Mō Mātou — About Us

TupuOra Academy is the newly accredited tertiary education arm of TupuOra Education and Development Ltd — a trusted leader in te reo and tikanga Māori education founded by Kingi Kiriona and Te Waipounamu Teinakore. Over the past decade, TupuOra has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, kaupapa Māori learning opportunities across Aotearoa.  TupuOra Academy was established to extend this kaupapa into the tertiary sector.

Our vision is to build a purposeful education-to-employment pipeline that supports te reo Māori learners from secondary school through to tertiary study and into meaningful careers.

Our approach offers something distinct in the tertiary landscape: vocationally contextualised pathways that integrate te reo Māori, mātauranga Māori, and workforce development, all within a kaupapa Māori ākonga support framework.

What sets our approach apart is the integration of strong iwi and industry connections into every stage of the learner journey. We support those seeking to continue their te reo Māori journey while simultaneously developing practical skills that are guided by, and relevant to, iwi aspirations and sector-specific workforce demands. These relationships go beyond academic support — they unlock job opportunities through our networks with iwi and industry partners. Our graduates will emerge culturally confident, and work-ready.
