The criteria which Ākonga (p) must meet in order to enrol with TupuOra Academy. Ākonga (p) must be:

1. NZ citizens (including Cook Islands, Niue, and Tokelau citizens).
2. Permanent residents currently living in NZ.
3. Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents (who have a returning residents visa and are currently living in NZ.
4. Certain exchange students and dependents of diplomats.

Ākonga under 18 years must also complete a parental consent form if enrolling on a fee-paying programme and have a Ministry of Education (MOE) exemption (if under 16 years old).

Sign Enrolment Form.

Normal documentation is required as well as a current exemption from the Ministry of Education. Under section 39 of the Education and Training Act 2020 and a completed parental consent form.

Ākonga can enrol by clicking on the ‘Enrol’ or ‘Apply Now’ option on our TupuOra Academy website. The Enrolment Form will take approximately 15 minutes to complete.

1. Please have a copy of your passport and or birth certificate to complete your enrolment form.
2. Check that you are eligible to enrol and that you meet the enrolment guidelines.

Note: All correspondence will be sent through email as soon as the enrolment has been received.

All enrolled Ākonga will have access to iQualify Learning Management System (LMS). iQualify will allow Ākonga to

1. Access resources to support you with your learning.
2. Access your course outline material.
3. Ability to communicate with Pūkenga regarding any learning or programme needs.

Enrolled Ākonga will receive the login details in an email confirmation with instructions to sign up and join iQualify.

If Ākonga (p) wishes to withdraw from a programme, Ākonga must contact Pūkenga or a TupuOra Academy representative, by phone or online to early withdraw (withdrawal at Ākonga request – Withdrawal Application Form).

• Please note; the early withdrawal period starts on the course start date and finishes once 10% of the total course duration has passed for the course (up to a maximum of 30 days).

If an Ākonga has paid fees and withdraws from study at TupuOra Academy due to:

1. A programme is being cancelled by TupuOra Academy.
2. The withdrawal form has been submitted within the early withdrawal period.
3. Withdraws from some units before the early withdrawal period in accordance with Education Regulations.
4. Applications received after the finish date of the programme the Ākonga has early withdrawn from will not be considered for a refund.

In order to request a refund, Ākonga must complete the Ākonga Fee Refund Form.

Studylink

• If you are paying your fees by Student Loan, please organise this well in advance to allow time for processing and approval by StudyLink. Your fees must be paid before the 10% cut-off date of your programme of study or TupuOra Academy reserves the right to cancel your enrolment.
• If you are refused a Student Loan you must still pay all fees in full, unless you withdraw in the manner required by TupuOra Academy within the relevant TupuOra Academy Refund Period (before 10% of your programme has elapsed). WINZ (Work and Income New Zealand)

• If you are paying your fees by Training Incentive Allowance (TIA), you are applying to Work and Income New Zealand (WINZ). TIA Application Forms are available from WINZ.

You need to contact us about your TIA Application Form, so that we can verify your study details.

If you receive a TupuOra Academy Confirmation Letter, TupuOra Academy will send an invoice to you, which you need to give to WINZ with your TIA application for payment.

WINZ will then advise you how much of your fees they are prepared to pay (if any).

• You may wish to apply to StudyLink to pay any difference. Please organise this well in advance to allow time for processing and approval by WINZ. You must make your own enquiries with WINZ, but please don’t wait until your enrolment has been confirmed.

If you are refused a TIA you must still pay all fees in full unless TupuOra Academy receives your completed signed Change of Details/Change of Enrolment Form within the relevant TupuOra Academy Refund Period (before 10% of the programme has elapsed).

Ākonga can choose one of the following options for payment of Ākonga fees:

1. Student Loan via Studylink – Ākonga can request a verification of study be sent to Studylink by The Enrolment Team
   (aka BlankVoS).
2. Education grants / scholarships – NGO; TeachNZ; AST; Iwi or Whānau Trust; etc. (Notification of any grant / scholarship application details should be sent to Finance so Ākonga account details are up to date).
3. Automatic payments – confirm payment plan with the Finance team.
4. Credit Card payments – via TupuOra Academy website.
5. Lump sum payment via bank account:
6. Enter Ākonga ID number as reference on TupuOra Academy bank statements.
7. Ākonga must make arrangements with the Finance Team to pay their Ākonga fees within the early withdrawal period (10% of the total course duration to a maximum of 30 days).

All graduates of TupuOra Academy programmes will receive a certificate or diploma depending on the level of study.

Graduates of these qualifications will have the appropriate knowledge and skills to support their academic pursuits and will reflect the various programme graduate profiles in theory and/or practise.

New Zealand has a public healthcare system that is partially funded by the government. International students are required to have health insurance while they are studying in New Zealand.
